Our highly trained providers have advanced training and credentialling including Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (OMPT), Graston® Technique, and are recognized nationally as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS).
Craig Elford
Craig Elford is the owner and clinical director of Active Orthopedics Midland. He received his master’s degree in physical therapy from Central Michigan University in 1999. In 2004, he completed a post graduate residency program in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (OMPT) from Oakland University. In 2006, he achieved national certification as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). Craig possesses nearly 25 years' experience working with sports related, post-surgical, and various orthopedic injuries. Craig's passion outside of work involves helping to mentor and develop young athletes towards achieving their highest potential on and off the field of sport. He has presented numerous youth camps, training programs, and workshops free to the community with the goal of personal development, injury prevention and performance enhancement. Outside of work, Craig enjoys being outdoors and spending time with his children. He is the founder of the MidMichigan Multisport Racing Club and has completed well over 100 Triathlons ranging from Ironman to sprint distance. Craig's favorite quote is "nothing changes if nothing changes".
Lori Unruh
Lori received her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University in 2005. She has over 18 years experience working in the outpatient, orthopedic clinical setting. She has successfully completed numerous post graduate courses with a special focus on management of spinal and sacroiliac/pelvic dysfunction and rehabilitation. She possesses advanced training including Graston Technique.
As an avid runner and athlete herself, she has built a reputation within the local running community as a go to source for evaluation, analysis, and treatment of various running injuries.
Lori's calm and relaxed "yooper" personality, combined with her attention to detail and focused treatment approach continues to help promote excellent outcomes among her clients every day.
Outside of work, Lori enjoys running and is very active with her daughters where she serves as a girl scout leader, basketball, soccer, and softball coach.

Merrick Lincoln
Merrick received his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University in 2016 and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Merrick is also employed with Saginaw Valley State University as an assistant professor within the Health Professions College teaching Biomechanics and Kinesiology.
Through his work at SVSU, Merrick has published a wealth of literature relevant to the field of physical therapy and in particular training amongh youth and adults for purposes of developing strength and muscle conditioning. When not at the university or in the clinic, Merrick is very active as a contributing author who provides his insight and knowledge to millions via monthly contributions towards several ational and international strength and conditioning publications. He is often featured on various popular podcases as a expert within the field. While only working part time in the clinic, those who work with Merrick recognize his passion and intensity--we're happy to have such a rockstar clinician locally her in Midland. FYI, rumor has it that Merrick is HUGE in THE United Kingdom!
Outside of all of his professional ambitions, Merrick is a proud husband and father of young twins!

Logan Lamb
Logan received his undergraduate degree in from Central Michigan University in 2020 and completed the Doctoral program in Physical Therapy from CMU in 2023 after successfully completing his final clinical affiliation at Active Orthopedics. During Physical Therapy school, Logan participated with numerous advanced training programs within the filed of orthopedic and sports medicine/rehabilitation and even successfully completed the coursework and testing to achieve national recognition as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Since graduation, Logan has been actively refining his skills and is currently pursuing advanced training in the area of manual therapy of the spine and extremities.
Outside of work, Logan enjoys working out and exercising and spending time with family. Logan's favorite quote is "Pain is temporary. It may last for a minute, an hour, a day, or even a year. But eventually will subside. And something else will take it's place. If I quit however, it will last forever.
Jessica King
Jessica earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Central Michigan University in 2009. In 2014 she successfully received an Associates of Applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Delta College in 2014. Jessica has spent her entire career working in outpatient, orthopedic and neurologic practice and has built a wealth of knowledge and practical hands-on experience to her skillset. She possesses additional training within the areas of functional core and spinal training as it relates to return to work and spinal rehabilitation. Her recent interests and ambitions involve
Jessica works hand in hand with each therapist on a daily basis and is an extremely valulable component of our team. Clients routinely comment on her soft spoken but direct demeanor which has the ability to motivate clients towards achieving goals that they often don't think are possible.
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys walking, kayaking and going for walks while her husband and son.

Murphy
Murphy is by far the most sought after personality in our clinic. He received AKC recognition as the world's most adorable golden retriever in the spring of 2014. Since that time he has been been very active while playing fetch, swimming, taking long walks, and napping.
In 2022, he began coming to the clinic on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and he has become our star employee who is responsible for welcoming and greeting clients as they arrive.
